About New to Worship

Gravatar2Hello there and thanks for visiting this site. We hope that you have found something that is useful in your walk, or will find something useful in the future.

If you are like I, Raphael, was at the beginning of my relationship with God, I know that you have a lot of questions. I lived most of my life faking Christianity. I know sort of what everything was about, but didn’t hold it as the first and foremost thing in my life. I was invited to church in one of the darkest times of my life and have been going ever since as a new creation. We’re here to uncover some of the things that you may not of thought about.

Also, once I became a Christian, a true Christian, I started to play in worship bands. First I played in an incredible team in Louisville, KY.  When I moved to Indiana, I then played at a church in Marion, and then here at my current church. I know that Dana (the other contributor to this site) has worked in worship music as well. We both have learned some things along the way that can be useful to music leaders that are starting out, whether you’ve gone to college for it or not.

I am currently the Contemporary Worship Leader at East Main Street Christian Church (emscchurch.org). I hope that you find everything useful!

This is Dana!  Hi, and welcome to this site!  Like Raphael, I pray you will find things that are useful here.  Like everyone, we too are in the process of learning and growing in the Lord.  My personal hope is that we can grow together, even as we see through the glass dimly.

I have been a believer for many years, but along the road my life has taken, there have been many questions and bumps meant to shake my faith.  However, I have always known that the answers to all my questions and hurts are in God’s Word.  I just have to study to find them, reconciling Scripture with Scripture.  I hope that the journey of my questioning and seeking for answers might somehow help you as well.  Maybe you have the same questions?  Or you might have many I haven’t even though of?  Let’s seek and find the answers together.

I love to worship the Lord through music.  I have played cello with several different worship teams, as my family has been on the move.  Now that life has settled us (for now), I am currently a co-worship leader at Cooper Chapel Road Baptist Church.  I fill in wherever is needed, mostly singing and playing my cello (sometimes at the same time).  My heart is also in teaching.  As a homeschooling Mom, I have a unique opportunity to teach my own children, daily, about God’s Word, and reach their hearts with His awesome wisdom, but I also teach the children’s Sunday School class.  I can truly say, I think I learn more from them than they do from me at times.  Oh, to have the faith of a child!

May God bless you all, as you explore this site!  May you be edified as we grow together into the unity that is in Christ!

  1. Hello Raphael and Dana! I’m glad I came across your website.. Your first post I read was about the Psalms of David. It so happens I’ve been in worship music too, as a songwriter, but that was ages ago… And although I no longer exalt His name in songs, I do live everyday with praise and thanksgiving in my heart. Keep blogging and may our minds be enlightened and our faith renewed!

    1. Thank you Sophi! I know I’m no expert on the Bible, but I’m a student of it. As long as we continue to be students of His word, the more enlightened and renewed we can be. I’ve done some dabbling in songwriting, too—but more adapting songs or adding bridges to them and stuff like that. I’ll let you know if I have something new worthwhile 🙂 Thank you so much for reading!
